❄️ Caring for Your Jewelry in Winter: A Cozy Guide

Winter is here in the northern hemisphere, and along with sparkling lights and warm gatherings come the familiar traditions of snow, ice, and long winter nights. It’s also a season when our jewelry needs a little extra love. Just as we wrap ourselves in scarves and mittens, our treasured pieces deserve care to keep them shining through the holidays.

🧤 Rings & Winter Gloves (and Scarves!) - Cold weather can make fingers a bit smaller, and rings may feel looser. Combine that with tugging gloves or scarves on and off, and it’s easy for jewelry to slip away unnoticed.

·         Tip: Slow down when removing winter layers and give your jewelry a quick check. If you’re worried about losing a favorite piece, wear it close to your heart on a chain for the day—it’s a beautiful way to keep it safe and still enjoy its presence. Or tuck earrings into a secure pocket until you can return them to your jewelry box.

I know this all too well: one winter, a knit scarf snagged one of my pull-through earrings as I rushed out of work. It disappeared into the snow in the parking lot, and I was heartbroken—it was my favorite pair. Months later, when the snow melted, I found it again… but it had been flattened by countless cars. A bittersweet reminder that even beloved pieces need a little extra care in winter.

💧 Moisture & Winter Skin - Dry air and cozy creams are part of the season, but lotions can leave residue on jewelry.

·         Tip: Let your moisturizer sink in before slipping on your jewelry. At the end of the day, wipe each piece gently with a soft cloth.

🥶 Cold Metals & Gentle Care - Winter chill can make metals contract, sometimes loosening settings.

·         Tip: Take a moment to glance at your prongs and clasps. A quick check ensures your stones stay secure, ready to sparkle at every holiday gathering.

🌨️ Snow, Salt & Sparkle - Snowball fights, icy sidewalks, and road salt are part of winter’s charm—but they’re not so kind to jewelry.

·         Tip: If your jewelry is made of a precious metal (gold, silver, copper, etc.), slip pieces off before heading outdoors for shoveling or snowy adventures.

Your jewelry is more than adornment—it’s part of your story. With a little winter care, each piece will continue to shine through holiday magic, ready to carry memories into the new year.

Wishing you a happy, healthy, and sparkling holiday season!
